Coming to us from Leipzig, Germany, it's our distinct pleasure to welcome Peter Wollny, researcher at the Bach Archive Leipzig, and its director since 2014. Peter is a professor at Leipzig University, and has contributed to the Neue Bach-Ausgabe, and has been an editor of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach: The Complete Works. This three-volume bible was discovered in the United States during the 1930's in the home of a German immigrant family and is now housed in the Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. It is extensively marked in Bach's own hand, and offers insight into his many compositions and his views of God and religion. Dr. Marissen is the Daniel Underhill Professor Emeritus of Music at Swarthmore College.

The Bach Festival Orchestra and artist-in-residence Eliot Fisk: Saturday, May 22 ONLY Concerto in E Major for Guitar and Orchestra by Luigi Boccherini Bach’s Trio Sonata No. 5 in C Major, BWV 529 with Charlotte Mattax Moersch Bach’s Chaconne project Selected and mentored by Dr. Larry Lipkis, talented young musicians will perform variations they have composed over the chord progressions heard in Bach’s famous Chaconne in D Minor, played by The Bach Festival Orchestra. Eliot Fisk performs the solo Chaconne as a finale.
