Ifor Jones Chamber Music Concert
May 10 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Event Navigation
There are only a handful of figures in music history who could call themselves a composer, conductor, and virtuoso performer… and perhaps only one who could add knight and world-class fencer to their fame. Joseph Bologne, more frequently called The Chevalier de Saint-Georges, was appointed to the Royal Guard of King Louis XVI after defeating a renowned fencing master at the age of 16. The dexterity, skill, and daring he displayed as a swordsman found equal home in his violin playing and composing. Join the Bach Festival Orchestra and Rachell Ellen Wong as they perform Chevalier de Saint-Georges’ exciting Violin Concerto in G (Op. 8, No. 9) and other chamber works by Mozart and J.S. Bach.
