Joseph Bologne\, more frequently called The Chevalier de Saint-Georges\, was appointed to the Royal Guard of King Louis XVI after defeating a renowned fencing master at the age of 16. The dexterity\, skill\, and daring he displayed as a swordsman found equal home in his violin playing and composing.
