“Surely this is what it must have been like to hear Bach lead the ensemble in one of his cantatas…an exquisite program of works by Bach and Vivaldi…This was a highlight of Lincoln Center’s White Light Festival.”
—New York Times
The world-famous Thomanerchor (Saint Thomas Boys Choir), Bach’s own choir from Leipzig, Germany will make one of their U.S. appearances this year in Bethlehem!
Established in the year 1212, the Thomanerchor was led by J.S. Bach for 27 years and together they premiered many of his works. Program includes three Bach motets – Der Geist Hilft; Komm, Jesu, Komm; and Fürchte dich nicht along with works by Heinrich Schütz, Johann Hermann Schein, and Felix Mendelssohn.
The music of J.S. Bach was first performed in the United States in Bethlehem at the Moravian Church.
As we commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, join us to hear this exquisite music performed by these supremely talented young men right here in Bethlehem.
