DESCRIPTION:  \n \n  \nWe are delighted to once again present this free lecture at the 2021 Festival. Coming to us from Leipzig\, Germany\, it’s our distinct pleasure to welcome Peter Wollny\, researcher at the Bach Archive Leipzig\, and its director since 2014. \n“Bach in Challenging Circumstances – Some Thoughts on Life and Creativity” \nPETER WOLLNY (Ph.D. Harvard University)\, Distinguished Scholar Lecture\, is the director of the Bach-Archiv Leipzig and professor of musicology\nat Leipzig University. Between 2016 and 2020 he was a visiting professor at the Universität der Künste Berlin. In addition\, he has taught at Humboldt-Universität Berlin\, Technische Universität Dresden\, and Musikhochschule Weimar. He has edited several volumes of the Neue Bach-Ausgabe\,\nis executive editor of C. P. E. Bach: The Collected Works\, and editor of the Bach-Jahrbuch.  The major fields of Wollny’s scholarly interests are German\nand Italian music of the 17th century\, the Bach family (with J. S. Bach in its center\, but also including Bach’s ancestors as well as his sons and students)\, the reception of Bach’s music in the 19th century\, and the transmission of sources in the 18th to 20th centuries.\nIn January 2020\, the University of Uppsala (Sweden) awarded him an honorary doctorate. \nLecture is included in your All-Festival Pass.  The lecture will be streamed from Leipzig\, Germany.   \nThe lecture begins at 4pm Eastern Time.  To find your local time\, please CLICK HERE. \nVirtual Registration \nShare This:
