DESCRIPTION:Our Bethlehem Bach at Noon season kicks off on September 8th at Central Moravian Church. Gather with us for this free concert series\, a musical gift to our community. Hear members of the Bach Choir and Bach Festival Orchestra along with exciting guest artists. Gather with us for this free\, inspiring concert series\, a musical gift to our community. \nThe September Bach at Noon is supported in part by a generous endowment gift from Katherine S. Merle-Smith Thomas and is named in her honor. \nThis month\, the Bach Choir of Bethlehem is proud to host our 150th Bethlehem Bach at Noon.  For this milestone concert\, the Choir will be featuring Danqi Zeng\, Grand Prize winner of the 2025 Lillian & Maurice Barbash International J.S. Bach Competition. Established in 2019 to honor Long Island arts advocates Lillian and Maurice “Murray” Barbash\, the annual competition welcomes strong players ages 16 to 30 from around the world to perform Bach’s unaccompanied sonatas\, partitas\, and suites on modern of Baroque instruments. The Grand Prize winner receives $10\,000 and paid engagements with several distinguished musical organizations\, including the Bach Choir of Bethlehem. The competition gives exceptional young musicians both international recognition and valuable opportunities to share their artistry with new audiences. \nThis Month’s Featured Soloist\nViolinist and baroque violin specialist Danqi Zeng is the Grand Prize winner of the 2025 Lillian & Maurice Barbash International J.S. Bach Competition. Featured as a soloist across North America and Asia\, her recent accolades include winning Indiana University’s Stravinsky\, Saint-Georges\, and Historical Performance Institute Vivaldi Concerto Competitions\, as well as top prizes in the MASTA and MTNA Young Artist Competitions. \nHer 2026–2027 engagements include appearances with the Washington Bach Consort\, Island Symphony Bach Festival\, Gotham Early Music Scene\, Amor Artis\, and the Bach Choir of Bethlehem. Active in chamber music\, Zeng performs with the Z-G Duo alongside her husband\, keyboardist Benjamin Gittens\, and performs regularly on modern violin\, baroque violin\, and viola da gamba. \nDedicated to education\, Zeng has taught students globally for over a decade and serves as an Associate Instructor in Music Theory at Indiana University. She holds dual master’s degrees from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree from Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Zeng is currently completing dual Doctor of Music degrees in Modern Violin and Historical Performance at Indiana University under Mauricio Fuks\, Ingrid Matthews\, and Joanna Blendulf. \n\n\n \n\nClick the above logo to livestream this month’s Bach at Noon on YouTube. \nBach at Noon concerts are also broadcast live on WWFM\, a long-time media sponsor.
