DESCRIPTION:TICKETS Available at the door on Saturday evening\, starting at 7 pm. \nTo print a copy of the Christmas Concert program\, please click HERE.  \nView the program online  \nThe Christmas Oratorio tells the story of the Nativity with some of Bach’s most evocative music. \nIn Parts 1-3\, an opening chorus of irresistible rhythmic drive and remarkable invention\, trilling flutes and oboes\, heraldic trumpets\, thundering drums\, and lightning-fast strings are our entrée into Bach’s remarkable fusion of music\, narrative\, and theology. \nWe also hear impossibly joyful choruses\, tender\, intimate arias\, and a stunning evocation of the shepherds pipes dialoguing across a pastoral scene\, with each part scored for soprano\, alto\, tenor and bass solos. \nPart 1: On the First Day of the Festival of Christmas \n\nannounces the birth of Christ\, and reflects on the Holy Child\norchestra includes 3 trumpets\, timpani\, 2 flutes\, 2 oboes\, strings\, and continuo (bassoon\, cellos\, string bass\, and organ)\n\nPart 2: On the Second Day of the Festival of Christmas \n\nthe angel appears to the shepherds in the field\norchestra includes 2 flutes\, 2 oboes d’amore\, 2 oboes da caccia\, strings\, continuo (cellos\, string bass\, and organ)\n\nPart 3: On the Third Day of the Festival of Christmas \n\nthe shepherds go to find Mary\, Joseph\, and the Baby Jesus; the shepherds return to their fields\, glorifying God\norchestra includes 3 trumpets\, timpani\, 2 flutes\, 2 oboes\, strings\, continuo (cellos\, string bass\, and organ)\n\nThroughout the season\, we will continue to monitor the news surrounding COVID-19.
