SUMMARY:Bach at Noon June
DESCRIPTION:The seventh summer of Bach’s music in Allentown begins on Tuesday\, June 15\, with the first of three virtual BACH AT NOON performances presented by The Bach Choir of Bethlehem at St. John’s Lutheran Church in downtown Allentown. Because gathering restrictions have not been lifted entirely\, and with an abundance of caution\,  these concerts will be videotaped\, featuring smaller ensembles of musicians and – unfortunately –  no audience present. \nAdditional performances will be presented online on The Bach Choir’s You Tube channel on the second Tuesday of the month in July and August. \n“Join us” as we present Bach Together June Watch Party – online in your home!\n \n\nOur ONLINE watch party will present our June Bach at Noon concert in its entirety\, recorded live at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The concert includes Greg Funfgeld’s informal\, enlightening insights into the music\, performed by exquisite soloists and orchestra members – see below for complete repertoire.  Free-will contributions – offered online or through the mail – gratefully received!! \nCHALLENGE GIFT this month! \nThank you\, Helen Tilgner!  \nHelen found The Bach Choir of Bethlehem during this year of pandemic distancing and is this month’s Bach at Noon Challenge Gift donor. Her generous gift will match donations\, up to $1000! Helen has never attended one of our concerts in person\, but she shared how our music has touched her over the past year:\n“I ran across The Choir’s website quite by accident earlier this year & was captivated by the Bach at Noon concerts & the Moments of Comfort. Listening to Dashon Burton perform in the March concert was like spending time with an old friend. I first heard him sing at a Messiah concert in December 2012 & remember being mesmerized by his exquisite voice. His ability to deliver the feelings behind the music he sings is simply brilliant.\nI’m grateful The Bach Choir of Bethlehem is offering these concerts online\, bringing comfort to all who attend. What a wonderful outreach in this difficult time! I’ve never had the pleasure of attending a live Bach Choir of Bethlehem concert & look forward to the day when that becomes possible.”\nPlease tune in and enjoy this gift of spiritual and refreshment from The Bach Choir of Bethlehem. \nWHEN:  NOON on June 15\, 2021 – ONLINE \nWHERE and HOW: You can access the concert on The Bach Choir’s You Tube Channel\, or on our facebook page or watch the video on this page. \nAccess and print/view our program here or follow it online here: \nJune program:  \nSoloists: \n                Loretta O’Sullivan\, cello \n                Nola Richardson\, soprano \n                Janna Critz\, mezzo-soprano \n  \n\nGreg Funfgeld interview with with Loretta O’Sullivan \n\n \n  \nSecond Suite for Unaccompanied Cello\, BWV 1008                         Johann Sebastian Bach \nLoretta O’Sullivan\, cello \n  \n\nGreg Funfgeld interview with Nola Richardson and Janna Critz\n\nfrom STABAT MATER                                                                                 Giovanni Battista Pergolesi \n1. Stabat mater dolorosa \n2.
