The Bach Choir of Bethlehem

Tamara Matthews

Tamara Matthews, Soprano, is regarded as one of the finest singers of her generation, and her voice has been described as "worthy of the angels." As First Prize winner of the Musica Sacra Bach Vocal Competition, she made her Carnegie Hall debut in 1994. Her devotion to sacred music is evidenced by innumerable engagements as soloist at the world's premiere musical venues including the Los Angeles Master Chorale, the Accademia per La Musica Antica, the Boston Early Music Society, and the Berkeley, Philadelphia, Bethlehem, and Ravinia music festivals.

She has collaborated with prominent conductors and has enjoyed triumphant debuts as soloist with the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Her operatic performances in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco have garnered high praise for her portrayals of a wide range of roles.

Ms. Matthews has recorded for Koch International Classics, Angel/EMI, and the Musical Heritage Society, and is featured on the Bach Choir's 1998 release of the Mass in B Minor on the Dorian label.
